On Friday, January 18th, 2013 we had the opportunity to participate in a runDisney meetup during the Tinker Bell 1/2 Marathon weekend … what an amazing experience!

The morning started early – they asked us to meet at the Disneyland Hotel at 6am so we could start by 6:30!

When we checked in, they had us sign a waiver and then gave us our goodie bag. Inside the bag was our official runDisney tech tee which we were to wear during the event.  We were then able to fill the bag with anything we did not want to run with and they transported it for us.

Once we were all ready to go, Jeff Galloway and Sean Astin showed up and greeted us.  At that time we were also introduced to Ali Vincent.  Jeff was the leader of our run and took us through the parks using a 30 second run/ 30 second walk interval.
We started by heading through Downtown Disney.

We then entered Disneyland … so cool to run through the parks when they are empty!

After circling the park we stopped for a moment to meet Tinker Bell

While the others were taking their pictures with Tink, we took the opporutnity to get a picture with Jeff. It was an especially neat experience to have this opportunity with him since we are both using his training plan for our upcoming marathons in hopes of qualifying for Boston.  We took advantage of the time we had with him by talking about our training, asking questions and getting a great amount of motivation!

We then left Disneyland and headed over to Disney’s California Adventure

After circling the park, we stopped for a few photo opportunities.  This is where we took our group photo and had a chance to meet Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.  While everyone was taking their pictures, we also took a moment to get a picture with Sean!

After taking photos, we walked to Cars Land and were told we would be going for a ride on Radiator Springs Racers

While we were waiting to go on the ride we chatted with Ali and got a picture with her

We actually ended up riding Racers with Ali and had a great time hanging out with her that morning!

It was then time for breakfast. We walked to Napa Rose where a buffet was waiting for us.
Once we all had a chance to get food and relax, time for presentations

In between presentations they took time to give away prizes.  Among the prizes were 4 pair of New Balance shoes … the cute new Mickey & Minnie inspired design, several pieces of runDisney luggage and an entry into the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon this Labor Day.

Then, one more surprise – a cooking demonstration … along with a delicious sample!

As we were leaving, they gave us all one more gift – a one-day park hopper ticket to go back and enjoy the parks.
Thanks runDisney for an amazing morning! In addition to it being an experience of a lifetime, we came away with a few new friends!

Here’s my Garmin info – I left it running the whole time we were outside (even when we stopped to take pictures and while we were on Radiator Springs Racers) – stopped it once we got to Napa Rose.
