2014 Laughlin Half Marathon

This past weekend we headed out to Laughlin, Nevada to have a go at the Laughlin Half Marathon.  It was our first time racing this event, and coincidentally our first time visiting Laughlin.  The race was set for a Saturday morning, so Friday afternoon we loaded up the car and headed out.  We decided to just spend Friday night in Laughlin, opting to head home after the race on Saturday (Mindy preferred not having me stuck in a town with nothing to do but Continue reading →

Why I runDisney

Kris and I have loved participating in runDisney events over the last 7 years! Our first was actually our 2nd 1/2 marathon ever (our first being Rock ‘n’ Roll AZ) and we were hooked on runDisney events immediately!  So far we have done (and if it’s highlighted, we’ve done a blog post on it): 2007 Labor Day Weekend – Disneyland 1/2 Marathon 2008 Labor Day Weekend – Disneyland 1/2 Marathon 2010 Labor Day Weekend – Disneyland 1/2 Marathon 2011 January – Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend – Goofy Challenge Continue reading →

Anthem Turkey Trot – Running in Costume!

A few weeks back we decided to run a turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning. This in itself is nothing new for Mindy, she has been running the Mesa Turkey Trot for the past few years now and is a veteran of outrunning a stranger dressed in a turkey costume.  I have never had the joy of running a turkey trot, usually due to my work schedule, and occasionally due to my love of sleep.  This year would be different though, because as luck would have Continue reading →

Drumstix Dash 5k Race Recap

After finishing up turkey leftovers and celebrating a birthday, it’s time to get back to posting some race recaps!  We’ve got two posts this week, both with a Thanksgiving theme, but two totally different experiences!  First up, the Drumstix Dash….   The Drumstix Dash is a 5k race held on the Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus.  The Dauntless Drumstix Dash, as it was previously known, was started by ASU employee Walt Carter as a way to raise money for a scholarship fund which helps students Continue reading →

Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend – Part 1

Disneyland  1/2 Marathon  Weekend August 29 – September 2, 2013 Well, it has taken us a little time to actually sit down and write about this weekend.  We continue to watch other bloggers post about their experience as we sit and say, “we need to write our recap!”  Yet, we continue to procrastinate and watch episodes of ‘The Walking Dead‘ instead. Why has this one been so difficult for us? We had such an amazing weekend, it’s hard figuring out how to describe it and Continue reading →
